Differentiation without different topics
Nobody wants the reading group divide to be visible from across the room. Every original passage here ships in a supported version (numbered paragraphs, a Words to Watch bank) and an independent version, so the whole class discusses the same fiction and nonfiction texts while each reader works at the right level. Text-dependent questions, written responses, and a story map ride along.
The thirteen reusable organizers then stretch the routine across the whole year: any book, any passage, print the one that matches the lesson.
Cursive practice with a riddle to solve
What has hands but cannot clap? (No peeking at the answer key.) That's riddle 1 in 4th Grade Cursive Riddles, and there's a book for 3rd and 5th grade too. Every riddle page runs the same way: kids read it in cursive, write it, then solve it and write the answer in cursive too.
From tracing to writing on their own. In every book the tracing fades as kids go. The 3rd grade book starts with every letter, lowercase and capitals, and kids solve each riddle by picking from three answers. The 4th grade book starts with a cursive alphabet and four warm-ups (bridge joins, tricky letters, and capitals). The 5th grade book ends with riddles copied from cursive text with no guide lines, like a page in a book. Each one is designed in black and white, so it photocopies cleanly.
